Social Action Through Music
In Harmony Lambeth (IHL) was launched in 2009 inspired by the Venezuelan El Sistema Programme. It is primarily a social action programme which encourages the pursuit of musical excellence to enrich the lives of children, young people, families and the wider community around the Stockwell and Vauxhall area. IHL engages with children and young people through its immersive programme to help realise a range of outcomes
These outcomes will enable children and young people to have more choice as the grow up, helping them to lead successful, and most importantly, happy lives! In Harmony operates within a national framework of core principles, but is locally autonomous, responsive and entrepreneurial whilst remaining answerable to Arts Council England. In Harmony is led by Lambeth Council and is jointly funded by Arts Council England and the Department for Education. Every week after school, 180 musicians of all ages come together to make music in various orchestras. choirs and ensembles. The children have different levels of experience and quickly make the journey from learning to making a sound on their instrument, to performing at the Royal Festival Hall! In Harmony Lambeth is a musical family. Working as a team we learn together, help each other to create music and have lots of fun in the process If you are interested in joining In Harmony Lambeth use the contact form below
